Food Drive
Our Outreach Committee continues to accept donations of non-perishable foods and canned goods the first weekend of every month. Donations are brought to our fellow parish, The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, in Bridgeport. Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity. Donations can be left in the bin downstairs outside of McKeon Hall.
Dorothy Day
On the second Sunday of each month volunteers from St. Elizabeth Seton provide meals to Dorothy Day guests. Some guests are homeless, some unable to afford meals and most are grateful for the help we give them. Our team of volunteers have continued to provide for the growing need throughout the pandemic. Our next day of service is Sunday, June 13th, and we could use a few more helping hands to help meet the current demand for help. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the vestibule in the back of church. If you could spare some time this month we would greatly appreciate it.
Annual Catholic Appeal
The Redemptoris Mater (Mother of the Redeemer) Diocesan Missionary Seminary of Bridgeport was established by Bishop Frank J. Caggiano and opened in Stamford in 2015. It is one of the nine diocesan missionary seminaries in United States and operates through the Neocatechumenal Way, a 55-year-old charism in the Church, dedicated to Christian initiation and formation and the New Evangelization. These missionary seminaries were inspired by St. Pope John Paul II and his call for a “New Evangelization.” Its purpose is to prepare priests for missionary work anywhere in the world—from China to Europe, from Africa to the Philippines as well as the streets of Bridgeport and Fairfield County. Presently in the Diocese of Bridgeport, there are nine men in formation from United States, Brazil, Colombia, Republic of Kiribati, and Italy at various levels of academics, from ESL to second year of theological studies. Last year three of the men spent their missionary training in teams of evangelization in Georgia, the Carolinas, Kansas, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. When you make a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal, you are supporting the work of Redemptoris Mater. Thank you for your generosity.
Thus far, Saint Elizabeth Seton parish has raised 181 gifts worth $53,030 from 147 donors bringing the parish up to 58.60% of our $90,500 goal.
Next weekend, June 12 and 13th, we will host an "in pew" collection, which will give you an opportunity to contribute during the Mass. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
In and Around the Diocese
St. Joseph Statue
Click here for a special project to own a Saint Joseph Statue during this Year of Saint Joseph. This is a great gift for Confirmations, graduation, weddings, house warning, for Dads, for priests, for one's self. Your statue will be blessed in the Holy Land before coming to America. This project will create jobs for Christians living in Bethlehem, that's where Saint Joseph first held baby Jesus in his hands. We must never abandon our Christian Holy Land. Read the flyer and buy one if you can.
